Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Blizzard shut down the office on 2/2/11, so we got an automatic reschedule for 3/30/11. AOS Interview was TOO EASY. Time was for 8:30. We got there about 8:10. Guards were nice and greeted wife in Russian when they saw her passport. We were called into the office at about 8:35. Total Interview time was about 30 minutes. Officer was cordial, professional, and spoke a slow enough English that my wife in her nervousness was able to understand. When she did not understand a certain word, I was able to use another word she did know (maybe him seeing this helped?). We were sworn in and then sat down. I had a small box of evidence and copies of all prior paperwork, a small photo album (with pics from wedding as well as honeymoon, wedding party, and thanksgiving with my family), and a large envelope with letters. Officer asked questions off the I-485 sheet (are you criminal, prostitute, etc.) He verified name/address/birthdate/parents names/current work.

He did not ask for 1 pi... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Everything went well today after a 3 hour drive to Kansas City we arrived at the office at 10:30 am interviews were schedualed for 11 am for my wife and then 11:30 am for my stepson well to our surprise there was only 1 couple ahead of us so we were called in at 10:40 am, by a very nice lady who introduced herself and directed us to her office, she said before sitting down let me swear you in. We all sit down and then she asked to see all of our identifications their passports and my drivers license evn though I brought mine too.
She then informed us to make things go swift and smoothly she would interview then at the same time, she wanted the answer from my wife first and then my stepson. To begin with she verified each of the names, date of birth, place of birth, and parents names.
She then started asking questions off the I-485 namely 8 of the questions. She then meantioned about the medical portion everything was received and immunizations look good, well just 2... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We showed up almost 3 hours early, and thought maybe we would be seen earlier. But no, we waited until a half hour after our appointment time before we were called. We had the same guy, the stern older one. Everything seemed fine, he said he was maily curious about how we met. He had already printed the letter saying that we were under further review, but said that everything looked fine, he was just waiting on a few other things. He didn't ask to see anything from our file apart from ID. I guess nothing was lost from our file or something. I brought our little photo album, and he took a look at it and said that it looked like I spent alot of time on it, but he didn't seem to care much. When he asked how we met I just blathered on about everything... He seemed to just want to hurry us out of there. Anyways, we'll see if we get the notice like the person before me!

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I copied this review I made from a different immigration site that I made shortly after our interview:
We arrived about a half an hour early and sat in the waiting room to wait. I was very nervous but my husband was less so that helped. After awhile, like 30 minutes, they called us in for our interview. We had it with an older gentlemen who was very dry and seemed stern at first. We walked into his office and before we sat down, we were sworn in. Then we sat down and he opened our file. He began by confirming our personal information and taking my I-94 card as I wouldn't need that anymore. After that, he went through and personally asked me to answer the legal questions on the I-485 application. After that, he joked that he would know if I was lying since the background check had come through and so he already knew all the answers. Then he proceeded to ask about how we met, and asked if we had more documents he could take for his file that showed our shared life together. I gave... read complete review

It was short and sweet, we got there just in time. Got called in, sworn in and the lady was very nice and made us comfortable. She said: "We'll go thru ur applications and then if u have any questions u can ask me. Will be done in 20 min not more, it's time for lunch and i'm hungry" we just laughed
She went thru all of it name, address, phone number... all we were saying is yes and smiling. Then she went on to -
where did u meet?
when did u get married?
have u met each others families?
where do u work?
what are ur plans for the future?
After all that she pulled out a letter of approval and congratulated us, i couldn't believe we were done! She didn't ask to see any pictures or ask any personal questions, said that we should get my card in 3 weeks and send us on our way
